Sasa

The genus Sasa is known as the ‘forest bamboo’ because in its native Japan it is found mainly in forests in mountainous regions, with some species growing above the tree-line and even on the top of mountains.

Sasa palmata f. nebulosa

One of the best bamboos for a tropical and exotic look but requires a lot of space or a strong barrier to keep it within bounds. Used in Japan for wrapping up rice balls.
