Free exhibition in our Visitor Centre during normal garden opening hours on Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 May.
Pop-up, 20 minute talks on the Saturday at 11am & 2pm and on the Sunday at 11am.
Free 40 minute, Bonsai Bonanza talk at 2pm on Sunday.

Bonsai are often looked on as ancient trees in small pots (even to some people “tortured trees’). To those interested in Bonsai there is far more to the activity. Some Bonsai are grown for their flowers, others for their elegant shape, interesting leaves or because the owner just likes that particular tree.
A large number of visitors always comment on how bringing the trees on a small scale and at eye level helps them concentrate on each aspect of the tree.
For growers of Bonsai, a Bonsai in not a finished product but an evolving work of art. Often there is a story implied for example a tree growing on a mountainside or damaged by wind, snow or lightening. In addition there is always the artistic endeavour, including matching tree and pot to produce a living work of art.
Many displays will include a smaller plant as a companion planting to give an indication of the season or the scenery in which the tree grows. A large number of visitors in the past have been as attracted by the companion plants as by the trees and it is an easy way of producing living growing plants in very small containers for display around the house.
The Japanese call these plantings Keshiki Bonsai and have developed this as an art of plant display separate from traditional Bonsai.
About Cornwall Bonsai Society
The Cornwall Bonsai Society is proud of two traditions which make us different from many other Bonsai exhibitions. Firstly we aim to have a good number of members present at all times to offer information and advice to visitors. Secondly we present displays from all members of the Society which offers inspiration with some very good examples of mature trees but also show how new members are making a start in order to encourage others to start.
You will see Bonsai grown in a variety of styles and in various stages of development and also obtain advice on buying or creating your own bonsai.
