New Beach Access At Trebah

New Beach Access At Trebah

We are delighted to announce that, following much hard work from our team over winter, the entry to Polgwidden Cove - Trebah's private beach - has been changed to flat, step-free access.

The new step free access from the garden to the beach is a major enhancement and we have also taken the opportunity to upgrade services to the Boathouse, with a direct water supply, upgraded electrical supply and a much improved internet link.

The original steps were installed with the building of the Boathouse, during Donald Healey's ownership of the garden in 1963. Having seen over 50 years of use, the new flat access allows everyone the opportunity to use the beach.

Considerable improvements have also been made to the coastpath, which runs through the bottom of the garden. The path has been moved inland to make it safer after recent coastal erosion, whilst taking the opportunity to provide walkers with views of the garden and beach from the new steps.

As can be seen from the photos, the new beach access is a vast improvement, allowing pushcahirs and wheelchairs easy access onto the beach.
