July is always a spectacular month at Trebah and, despite the recent lack of rain, the garden continues to look fantastic!
The gunnera and bamboo reach their lofty heights, the beach becomes a haven to cool down with a dip and an ice cream and, most excitingly, the hydrangeas begin carpeting the valley with their pastel hues.

This month, Darren explores his favourite summer spots in the garden, as well as his top plants for pollinators.
New CEO appointed
Jon Cummins, formerly Trebah's Operations Manager, has been appointed CEO by the Trebah Garden Trust following the retirement of Director Nigel Burnett last month.
Prior to arriving at Trebah, his career has been spent with the National Trust working across a range of roles from visitor welcome and gardening at Dyrham Park, to regional membership roles in Devon and Cornwall and seven years as visitor services manager at Buckland Abbey on Dartmoor. Directly before joining Trebah he has spent eight years locally as operations manager across three sites; Trelissick, Trerice and Glendurgan.
In a voluntary capacity he's a Director of the Cornwall Association of Tourist Attractions, a network which connects Trebah with 37 of Cornwall’s other top tourist attractions, including Heligan, Eden and St Michael’s Mount amongst many others.
Jon has penned a brief introduction to members, which you can read by clicking the button below.
Trebah Kitchen: menu update
Our chefs have added some delicious new dishes to the menu at Trebah Kitchen.
In addition to our tasty main meals we now have light bites and takeaway food, including pasties, sausage rolls and bacon and cheese turnovers available from the counter - perfect for a quick snack or for enjoying in the garden.
Pictured are some other mouthwatering options which have graced the menu recently, with sole goujons (l) and mozzarella salad (r) above and mackerel salad (l) and falafel flatbread (r) below.
Hydrangeas for home
In addition to our famous hydrangeas coming into flower in the garden, from Saturday 8 July we'll have a brand new selection of colourful hydrangeas at the Plant Centre, ready to brighten up any garden this summer.
These are in addition to the other beautiful plants available - many grown in our on-site nursery - so pop along and have a browse; we're open 9.30am-5pm every day.
New for summer: The Legs And Wings Trail
We're delighted to announce our brand new kids trail for the summer holidays, the Legs And Wings Trail; the perfect mix of fun and learning!
Follow the trail around the garden, write down the 10 creatures you find on the trail posts below and discover a fascinating fact about them...
But one of them doesn’t have legs or wings...can you find which one?
Trails are £2 each and available from the entrance desk on arrival.
What do you think?
We recently launched a visitor survey and you may have seen the QR codes around the Visitor Centre.
We'd love to hear what you think and how we can improve, so we'd be very grateful if you would consider completing the survey.
It takes around 5 minutes to fill in and can be completed by clicking the button below. Thank you.
