Director Nigel Burnett Awarded

Trebah was recently awarded silver in the Large Visitor Attraction category of the 2022 Cornwall Tourism Awards and in the same evening Trebah's Director Nigel Burnett also received a lifetime achievement award for his Outstanding Contribution to Cornish Tourism.

Nigel spent the early part of his career with Barclays and managed to play a part in tourism even then by supporting local businesses as part of his role as Head of Corporate Business in West Cornwall. This is where he met the late Lord St Leven and joined the St Aubyn Estate as the Managing Director of The Godolphin Company and as part of the portfolio of businesses he oversaw, he was the Agent for St Michael’s Mount. Arguably Cornwall’s most iconic visitor attraction!

Following his time with the Godolphin Company Nigel took the helm at Trebah Garden in 2005 where he has been a steading force and provided the consistency needed for the garden to develop into the award winning destination it is today. His diligence and hard work has supported the team to deliver outstanding customers service to establish Trebah as a Visit England Gold Accolade Attraction with a reputation for excellence. Nigel has overseen some very ambitious projects at Trebah including the building and programming of a three hundred seat amphitheatre in the heart of the garden. This coming year will see the opening of Nigel’s latest project ‘The Court Garden at Trebah’, a new walled space, accessible to all, that will add year round interest and provide a place for contemplation on the edge of the garden. Leaving Trebah with a lasting memory of his dedication to the charity and a legacy for the future.
