Watch the rise and fall at Gunnera Passage over the course of a year

In March 2025 we put up a camera to watch over the Gunnera Plantation – the first time this has ever been done at Trebah.

Taking 1 photo every morning, you can see the gargantuan yearly growth – from ground level to towering overhead – before it dies back for winter.

The leaves you’re seeing are huge at around 3 metres wide, with even taller stems.

The camera moved a couple of times over the year – perhaps due to birds perching on it – but it creates a fascinating record of 1+ year of growth of this magnificent plant.

It’s worth watching a couple of times to see the rhododendrons, ferns and hydrangeas rise and fall too.
