Hello everyone,
Last week we learnt that Trebah has been rated as one of the top ten gardens to visit in the world, sharing eighth place with the National Orchid Garden in Singapore, amongst the very prestigious company on the list. We are one of three British gardens to be named, the others being Bodnant and Plas-Cadnant, both in Wales.
We’ve also been awarded a Travellers Choice award from Trip Advisor. I realise in penning this to you that I’m perhaps writing to an already biased audience, but whatever your connection to Trebah or its people, that feels like a huge achievement for our garden on the Helford. Everyone on the staff and volunteer teams, past and present, can be rightly proud of this international recognition of their work. Thank you to you as our members for helping us be recognised through your ongoing support for our work at Trebah.
I hope Trebah’s previous owners from Charles & Sarah Fox to Tony & Eira Hibbert would be proud to hear this news too.
Colour is the theme here at the moment. The hydrangeas are coming into full bloom, the pink and blue hues the fruits of the annual mammoth late winter prune. The sunshine through the gunnera – this year the tallest (and best) I’ve seen – filters sunlight to a vibrant green high overhead as you walk down towards the beach. The Court Garden is beautiful at the moment – the salvias, verbena and geraniums giving bright blue and purple colour. The cannas, isoplexis and alstroemeria on the south facing wall are flooding the space with vibrant, warm tones. It’s simply a wonderful place to relax.
A short newsletter for this month as we get ready for the busiest period of the year, have a read of our upcoming events too. All we need now as we look forward towards the school holidays is a little more sunshine!
I hope we can welcome you to Trebah again soon.
Best wishes, Jon
