The Christmas Boxes from China and Himalayas are small winter flowering shrubs with tiny white fragrant flowers.

Sarcococca confusa grows profusely at Trebah, with notable plantings around Alice’s Seat. It usually flowers from mid-January through to February and also goes by the name ‘Sweet Box’, referring to its captivatingly fragrant flowers. These tiny creamy-white flowers release a powerful and pervasive scent, which can carry for quite some distance on the winter air. It originated in Western China.
