Magnolia

Magnolia

Magnolia family
Magnoliaceae

These magnificent spring-flowering trees from America and East Asia are thought to belong to one of the oldest flowering plant families.

The Chilean Coomb is dominated by a beautiful champion Magnolia campbellii.

When each of the six champion Magnolia campbellii trees in Cornwall – including Trebah’s – have reached 50 blooms, then we can officially declare that spring has arrived in the county.

A number of other magnolia varieties can be enjoyed round the garden; on Beach Path, the scented Magnolia doltsopa ‘Silver Cloud’ shows off a creamy-white flower, whilst on Badger’s Walk the stunning Magnolia x soulangeana flowers with the Chilean Coomb as its backdrop.
