An Introduction to Nature-Inspired Lino Printing

A beginner’s workshop in nature-inspired linocut printmaking

Join Layla, a local printmaker and ecologist, as she returns to Trebah for her second lino printing workshop. Drawing on her enthusiasm for wildlife and plants, Layla will guide participants through a relaxed, beginner-friendly introduction to linocut printmaking inspired by the natural world.

This warm and welcoming workshop will take inspiration directly from Trebah’s beautiful gardens. Participants will explore the surroundings, develop designs inspired by nature, and create a small edition of hand-printed lino prints. Wildlife, plants, and landscape will all provide starting points, making printmaking an ideal medium for celebrating the natural world.

Working with postcard-sized lino blocks, you will learn image transfer techniques and experiment with hand burnishing and a tabletop press. No previous experience is necessary, and all materials are provided.

Herbal teas will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch (or purchase lunch from the café), an apron or old clothes, a sketchbook, and any reference images or ideas you would like to work from.

Location: Please enter via the Visitor Centre. You will be directed where to go from there. The event is being held in Trebah House.

Refreshment availability: Trebah Kitchen will be open. Herbal tea will be included.

Garden entry: Included during the workshop.

When to arrive: Please arrive with enough time for the event to start at the advertised time.
