We've always said that spring arrives earlier in Cornwall than the rest of the UK and this year we decided to conduct our own little experiment to prove it!
Over the past month or so we've been monitoring six champion Magnolia Campbellii trees to see exactly when they bloom. It was agreed that the official start of spring in Cornwall would be when the first three trees flowered with at least fifty blooms - that happened on Tuesday 19th February, almost a month earlier than anticipated!
