The genus Thamnocalamus comes from the high-altitude temperate forests of the Himalayas.
Thamnocalamus spathiflorus
Closely related to Fargesia, this is a common bamboo of central and western Nepal. Can be used for hedging or screening.

From southern Africa. Tessellations are small veinlets that shed moisture rapidly to prevent freezing.
