The genus Chimonobambusa comes from east Asia, namely China, Burma, Japan and the Himalayas.
Has beautiful dark green, cascading foliage and the culms have four distinct sides making them appear square.
Introduced to England in 1987 and rare in cultivation. Extremely elegant with graceful arching culms. Very distinctive with particularly swollen nodes on the culms, used for centuries to make walking sticks in Szechwan. It is listed as an endangered plant due to its habitat being removed in China.
