Ground Source Heating Project

Ground Source Heating Project

Work has started on a new Ground Source Heating System, which will proide heating and hot water for our Visitor Centre.

We have started the drilling process on the site of the former tennis court, which will last around 2 weeks. This will comprise of creating between 10-12 boreholes, each of approximately 100 metres depth, and the pipework (all underground) will then be linked and connected to our plant room at the rear of the visitor centre.

The heat pumps will be installed in the spring, when we no longer require power from our ageing propane gas boilers, to serve the visitor centre underfloor heating and hot water needs.

This investment will provide significant long term financial benefits for the Trust and will supplement, alongside the solar installation we undertook in winter 2015/16, our already strong sustainable/green credentials.

The Trust’s aim is to then create a new major feature and facility in the form of an accessible Walled Garden on this site - further details will follow as this project evolves.
