The Boathouse Reopens!

(Article from July 2020)

We're thrilled to announce that our Boathouse Beach Cafe is back open for business again!

Since opening the garden on 20th June, the team at Trebah has been working very hard to get the Boathouse back open in a way that is safe for both our visitors and staff.

Changes to the cafe

As you'd expect, there are a number of changes to the cafe's setup which have allowed us to open at this time

  • There is now no entry into the beach cafe itself - visitors are served from the doorway.

  • The Boathouse only accepts payment by card and contactless is preferred.

  • Staff will take your order from behind a screen at the counter for both their and your protection.

  • All visitors must queue at 2m intervals, as marked out by the white lines on the ground.

  • All visitors must observe the one way system when ordering.

  • Outdoor table seating is available, but is well spaced out across the beach.

On the menu

Regulars of the Boathouse will no doubt be longing for some delicious refreshments on the beach once again! Our menu is slightly reduced, but still offers:

  • Roskilly's locally-made ice cream

  • Hot drinks: Freshly ground Origin filter coffee, a selection of teas and hot chocolate

  • Cold drinks: water, local juices, fizzy drinks

  • A selection of Burt's crisps

Access to the beach

We have a new traffic light system allowing safe access on and off the beach. We recently removed the beach steps and there is flat, step-free access to the beach, however it is narrow. In order to maintain safe social distancing as visits enjoy the beach, the traffic lights only allow people to travel from one direction at a time. We kindly ask all visitors to observe the traffic lights when entering or leaving the beach.

There is strictly no access to Trebah Beach from the water, even for those with pre-booked tickets. Please access the garden through the Visitor Centre.
