After the intense colours of spring and summer, you might be mistaken for thinking that the garden goes into decline as the days shorten and evenings get darker.

However there is always one last flurry colour - the final hurrah before many plants in the garden settle into their winter dormancy. This is, of course, autumn.

After a particularly wet summer, it seemed as though autumn might follow suit, but through the showers and storms, a few days of sunshine and blue skies have broken through.
